Fathom - Sculpture and drawings
Annie Cattrell
4 September- 13 November 2010
Fathom presents work by sculptor Annie Cattrell that explores her on-going fascination with the relationship between art and science.
Annie Cattrell’s work gives visual representation to scientific data creating new perspectives and understanding of the ceaseless and often imperceptible changes that occur in the natural world and inside the human body.
Central to her work are the collaborative relationships that she develops with scientists, historians and experts in their specialist fields and the important role that state-of-the art technology such as Lydar laser scanning and FMRI brain scanning techniques have in providing practical and conceptual insights in the development and crafting of her work.
In April this year Annie Cattrell spent five weeks in Orkney on a short residency hosted by the Pier Arts Centre and funded by the Royal Scottish Academy and the Scottish Arts Council.
