The Charles Asprey Gift is the biggest act of philanthropy since Margaret Gardiner’s gift in 1979. Composed of 53 works of British and international art, it reflects a similar energy of collecting to the founding gift.

Marian Ashburn’s work is rooted in close observation and a deep connection to place. Like Sylvia Wishart, she returns repeatedly to the same viewpoints, finding new life in familiar forms through careful looking and persistent drawing.

This body of work by Erin McQuarrie takes its title from Margaret Tait’s (1918-1999) poem The Scale of Things, reflecting a shared attention to the natural world. Rooted in Orkney’s landscape and heritage, it invites close observation and quiet reflection.

A series of limited-edition prints by Soulisquoy’s printmakers with the broad themes of mapping, journeying and viewpoint/s as the basis from which to create a wide and diverse collection.
