Appointment of Trustee
The Pier Arts Centre is seeking to appointment a new Trustee to expand and extend the range of skills of its board.
Established in 1979 to provide a home for an important collection of British art, the Centre also curates a year round programme of changing exhibitions and events for the enjoyment and education of the public.
The Centre is seeking a trustee who can bring enthusiasm and experience in one or more of the following fields: visual art, museums practice, third sector, charity sector.

A key role of the Board of Trustees is to take the ‘long view’ on the Pier Arts Centre’s development and sustainability, including the monitoring of financial matters such as the approval of annual budgets and management accounts. Trustees ensure the organisation stays relevant to the community it serves by adapting to change and responding to strategic opportunities and challenges. Trustees serve a term of three years and are selected through a process of open recruitment and individual appointment.
Role and Responsibilities
Trustees have ultimate responsibility for The Pier Arts Centre and its work and are the legal guardians of the organisation and official employers of all Pier Arts Centre staff. Our trustees bring a diverse range of skills and experience to the organisation’s strategic management.
This is a voluntary role and will require a commitment attending 4- 5 Full Board Meetings each year (held Saturday mornings). The role is unpaid although reasonable travel expense are reimbursed.
