Raised in a home without electricity just outside Stromness, Merlyn’s Orkney upbringing and deep connection with the natural world shapes much of his music. He captivated audiences across the UK with his critically acclaimed 2022 project, Simmerdim: Curlew Sounds. A collaboration with the RSPB and various other artists, the album was inspired by Merlyn's memories of curlews calling out in the 'simmerdim' (the midsummer twilight in the northern isles). The project earned national radio play and glowing reviews from MOJO, The Guardian, and Songlines Magazine.

Now living between the UK and Finland, Merlyn's tour will take him from Dungeness on the southern tip of Britain all the way home to Orkney. Expect a moving blend of music and nature, with the wild voices of curlews, greenshank, frogs, and more woven into the soundscape.
