In a celebration of Orkney's summer and winter solstices, renowned artist Victoria Crowe and Orkney-based composer Gemma McGregor are collaborating to create the Orcadian Sequence, inspired by Victoria Crowe’s recent Orkney paintings. This evocative new musical composition by Gemma, recorded by Hebrides Ensemble, will accompany a filmic projection of Crowe’s paintings, the original inspiration point, culminating in a powerful, immersive experience of both vision and sound. This unique collaboration brings together two women, experts in their own creative fields, to bring to life the inspiring nature of Orkney’s powerful landscapes, its resonant history and evolving skies.
A further performance at Dalkeith Palace will take place in September 2026 with other performances throughout the UK currently being progressed.
