OCTOBER HOLIDAY | E X P L O R E & C R E A T E
This October we have created a series of online resources you can use at home to do some fun activities and create your own artworks. Click on the images below to download the activity sheet and have a go! And please share your artworks with us through our Social Media channels.
Check out the Art UK website where you will find lots of artworks to inspire you.
The activities below take inspiration from a project we are working on with Samaritans Orkney, to find artworks to display in their recently refurbished Kirkwall office, to help calm and encourage their volunteers as they respond to telephone calls and emails from vulnerable people in need of their support from across the UK.
The selected artworks will be chosen from entries into a competition which is open to anyone aged between 0 and 18 years old, and living in Orkney.
If you are interested in taking part, here’s what you need to know - Artworks must be 2-Dimentional, including painting, photography, craft or print. Please send an image of your artwork, along with the artwork title, artist’s name, age and contact information (or a parent/guardian’s details if preferred or if under 16 years old) and the size of the artwork, to the Pier Arts Centre via email isla.holloway@pierartscentre.com or through Facebook Messenger @thepierartscentre
Winning entries will be announced on Saturday 7 November and all entries will be included in an online exhibition on the Pier Arts Centre’s website later in November. Please note participants must be prepared for their original artworks to be given to the Samaritans Orkney to hang in their office.
