Megumi Barrington Uenoyama is a Japanese artist who lives in Orkney. Her print reflects both her Japanese heritage and her interest in the landscape and natural history of Orkney. Waves are an important element in her creative work making a connection between Japan and Orkney. The lobster is considered a symbol of good fortune, prosperity and strength and is often referred to as the ‘dragon of the sea’ representing power and success.

The print has been created by cutting a series of Japanese woodblocks which are then printed layer by layer using watercolour inks to build up the finished image. NB Please note that slight variations will occur in this hand-printing process
