McLaren 100 Animation workshops

  • Pier Arts Centre 28-36 Victoria Street Stromness Orkney (map)

As part of the current exhibition, Living Colour ~ artists’ animated films, the Pier Arts Centre is hosting a series of workshops on Sunday 11 May in partnership with McLaren 2014.

McLaren 2014 is a Programme celebrating the centenary of pioneering Scottish artist, filmmaker and musician, Norman McLaren (1914-87). The programme explores his life and work through a major public engagement programme, complemented and contextualised by exhibitions, screenings, performances and workshops whilst promoting his legacy for Scotland.

The workshops will introduce the film-making and animation techniques of Norman McLaren. The fundamentals of animation will be explored through an intensive but fun education experience. A highly skilled animator will guide participants as they create their own animated films using the McLaren Workshop app created by the National Film Board of Canada.

The workshops are FREE but booking is essential – please contact the gallery on 01856 850209 or email carol.dunbar@pierarstcentre.com
