This event is just one of many exciting events taking place as part of Festival of Museums between 16 and 18 May 2014.
The drop in day will include a range of self-directed activities relating to and exploring Living Colour – artists’ animated films the current exhibition at the Pier Arts Centre.
Living Colour brings together a group of artists’ films, created between 1935 and the present day, that share a common interest in the potential of the moving image to capture and convey abstract form and colour. From film, hand painted frame by frame with coloured inks, to work made using the latest digital technologies the exhibition aims to connect work by early innovators of creative filmmaking with artists working today.
The exhibition is presented in partnership with McLaren 2014, celebrating the centenary of the birth of pioneering Scottish/Canadian artist and filmmaker Norman McLaren
The drop in event will include simple activities that focus on colour and create moving images such as zoetropes and flick books. The activities are aimed at family participation and will last around 30 minutes each. Children must be 5 years and over and accompanied by an adult. The activities are all free of charge and all materials will be provided.
